Last post we talked about how to recognize your self-limiting subconscious patterns. Now let’s get into how to change them. There are three main topics you can improve and when you do, they will propel you to success. They are:

1.    The words you use
2.    How you use your physiology
3.    What you focus on

This week we will talk about the first strategy.

Words are extremely powerful. Some people don’t realize how they self-sabotage their goals by using words that contradict what they want. Wanting to be debt-free, a person will look at their checkbook and declare, “I am so broke!” Another good example is when you say, “I never have any luck.” This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Doesn’t it make sense to say the things you want to have happen rather than saying the things you don’t want to have happen?

In the last post, we discovered your random thoughts and how they can help or hurt you. Now it is time to focus those thoughts on what you do want. Take a moment and write down three things you would like to accomplish. It doesn’t matter how small or large, just write them down.

Now you need to take what you have written and state it in a positive statement as though it has already happened. Here is an example:

“I am so happy and grateful now that I am at my ideal weight.”

You will trick your subconscious mind into believing this has already come to pass. Make copies of this statement and place it everywhere you tend to be. Examples are:

·         On your bathroom mirror
·         On your refrigerator
·         In your dresser
·         On your steering wheel
·         On your computer

Every time you see your statement, say it to yourself and out loud, if you can. Make sure you are confident as you say this statement. That means eliminate weak words that lead to failure. The words to eliminate are:
  • Try – Don’t “try.” Just do.
  • If – This implies you won’t do it. Instead say “When.”
  • But – This negates everything you said prior to this word. Change it to “and.”
  • Hope – Don’t hope something will happen. Know it will.
I know this information will dramatically change your life. Please share with me how you are using these strategies for your success.

In the next post, I will share strategies for using your physiology to help with achieving goals and creating a better life. Have a great week!!

You have two minds. You have a conscious mind and you have a subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is what is referred to as your “critical factor.” It is the part of you that evaluates information and experiences and either accepts, rejects information or creates alternate, acceptable meanings from experiences.

Your subconscious mind is completely different. It has no ability to judge. It is simply a computer. The rule of the subconscious is simple:

Whatever goes in is what comes out

So it would seem fairly easy to change any self-limiting programs you have in your subconscious, right? In theory this is true and the challenge is that you don’t know what some of your limiting patterns might be. How could this be?

From birth until around eight years old, we learned many things from many different people. These people were our parents, teachers, people on television, and friends. Although the odds are that none of these people would intentionally program your subconscious mind with self-limiting programs, there is a good chance you picked up a few. Some of these programs taught us to fear change. Others made us believe it was bad to take risks. Maybe you heard a few of these as I did while growing up:
  • “Don’t talk to strangers”
  • “If you don’t get good grades you won’t be successful”
  • “Don’t do that! You don’t want to get hurt, do you?”
  • “It’s better to be safe than sorry”
Each of these examples created a program within me that I had to change. By changing theses beliefs I learned to take more risks. I also learned that I could be successful regardless of my education. The point is that you need to discover what your negative subconscious programs are and then change them to empower you.

There are several ways to discover your programs. My favorite is by playing board games. Most people play games very close to how they live their lives. When you win, do you make other people feel like losers? Do you “play it safe?” Are you reckless? Do you help other people to win and learn? Do you cheat to win? How people play games (tag, Sorry, Monopoly, Cashflow, etc.) is a reflection of how they live their lives. How you do anything is how you do everything.

Once you recognize your limiting beliefs, you can now change them. Next week I will share different strategies for changing your limiting beliefs and subconscious programs. Until then, discover at least three of your self-limiting programs so you can apply next week’s message to create real change in your personal life and in your business.
